TRAINING

While the on-site installation of ASP spiral armouring is designed to be simple and efficient, ASP is committed to ensuring that all installers receive full training. This training is normally delivered in the UK, but on occasion, additional technical and training support is
provided on-site.

SECURITY

For every project, Associated Steel Products provides a series of bespoke security and confidentiality
recommendations in respect of Professional Team, Protection of Information, Contractor Personnel, Site Access Controls and Site Confidentiality.

COMPANY

COMPANY

The protection of life and assets has always been important, and in today's more uncertain world, providing this protection is an ever-increasing challenge - for individuals, businesses, governments and states.

In the construction industry, those responsible for the creation of high-security structures such as bank vaults, strongrooms and blast walls are at the forefront of this challenge as they strive to ensure their projects offer the greatest resistance to all forms of potential attack.

Associated Steel Products helps architects, designers and engineers meet this challenge with a new generation of spiral steel armouring produced exclusively for partner Gunnebo. When integrated into concrete, this armouring provides the highest possible resistance to thermal, mechanical and explosive attack.

Through a class-leading combination of precision engineering, high-quality raw materials and a full range of support services, Associated Steel Products works seamlessly with Gunnebo to provide the strength required to protect people and other high value assets in an increasingly challenging world.

PRODUCT

PRODUCT

ASP armouring elements are manufactured from specially selected 12mm carbon steel which is helically formed to create spiral lengths with diameters ranging from 100mm-250mm.

A range of pitch sizes from 15mm-190mm is available, allowing clients to specify the precise armouring densities required to meet their individual security requirements.

These spiral lengths are then interwoven and laced with straight steel rods to form a rigid mattress which may be one or several layers thick depending on wall specifications and other security requirements. The average mattress size is 1m wide x 2m long, with a two-layer mattress weighing approximately 100kg.

On-site, the mattresses are easily linked together in line with the detailed design drawings provided to create a uniform and monolithic structure onto which concrete can easily be poured and vibrated to create an overall structure of immense strength.

ASP armouring elements are designed for integration into any sensitive or high-security structure required to protect personnel or other high value assets from thermal, mechanical or explosive blast attack. The most common applications are: - Vaults and Strongrooms (e.g. national / central banks) - Blast Walls (e.g. communication facilities, major event centres) - Blast Protective Structures (e.g. finance / data centres, high value storage areas) - Blast Containment Chambers (e.g. munitions storage)

Applications

While many companies produce coiled steel products, the vast majority rely on ageing technology. The investment made by Associated Steel Products in second generation machinery has allowed the Company to exert a much higher degree of control over the pitch and diameter of the spiral coils it produces. This greater precision in the spiral coils supports the integrity and uniformity of the reinforcement mattress which is vital in removing any potential planes of failure which would be vulnerable to shockwaves should the structure come under explosive attack.

Engineering

Associated Steel Products aims to produce products of the highest structural integrity and sees a tight control over metallurgy as the key to removing any variability in product quality. To this end, all the steel used by ASP is provided by mills certified by UK CARES - the UK Certification Authority for Reinforcing Steels. All mills and their upstream manufacturers are carefully selected to ensure tensile and mechanical properties and bend, bond and fatigue performance - and to avoid any trace elements that could cause hardening or surface cracking or any fluctuations in tensile strength.

Materials

Associated Steel Products follows a six-stage process in the production of its steel spiral armouring elements.

Tested
Solutions

The only way to measure a structure's effectiveness in resisting attack is through a fully-accredited independent testing programme.

The armouring solutions offered by ASP are subjected to rigorous testing by BRE Global - the UK's primary independent testing company - in accordance with the benchmark European Standard EN1143-1 (2010).

When subjected to intense attack by thermal lance, diamond core drill and high explosive, the two-wall test structure incorporating ASP's armouring elements exceeded the Resistance Values required to achieve the highest possible Resistance Grade - EX CD XIII.

As a result, any contractor specifying ASP armouring elements within their project can be confident that they are incorporating fully-tested solutions offering the greatest possible protection against attack - now and in the future.

CLIENTS

Associated Steel Products has worked in partnership with Gunnebo on major projects for public and private sector clients in both domestic and international markets.
